Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a HOG® member to rent with Harley-Davidson® Authorized Rentals? Is this the same as the HOG Fly & Ride motorcycle rental program?

No, Harley-Davidson® Authorized Rentals is a rental program open to all qualified motorcyclists. HOG Fly & Ride is a different program only available to HOG members.

Are there HOG discounts?

HOG discounts do not apply to authorized rentals.

What does a rental include?

The use of a recent model H-D® motorcycle, motorcycle lock, helmet that meets DOT specifications, short-term luggage storage, emergency roadside assistance and minimum requirements for insurance coverage.

Does the rental include insurance?

Yes, each rental includes minimum requirements for insurance; however, the level of coverage will vary by state or market. If you want more coverage for peace of mind, rental customers can choose to upgrade coverage by paying an additional fee.

Does my motorcycle or automotive insurance coverage carry over to a motorcycle rental or tour?

Not likely. Most motorcycle and automotive insurance policies do not extend coverage to motorcycle rentals. It is recommended you inquire with your insurance agent in advance.

If I ride a Harley-Davidson Authorized Rentals motorcycle in a state that does not have a helmet law, why must my passenger and I wear one?

Our primary concern is your safety. Protection on the road is a good thing and it is a good idea for motorcyclists to ride responsibly. You and any passengers must sign an agreement that states you will wear a helmet that meets DOT specifications at all times while on the bike for the duration of the rental, even if you're traveling in a state without mandatory helmet laws. If you don't have your own helmet that meets DOT specifications, don't worry; these are provided at the time of rental. Be aware that beanie and novelty shells are not helmets that meet DOT specifications and do not qualify as proper head protection.

May I use my own helmet?

Yes, but only if it is a helmet that meets DOT specifications. If you don't have your own helmet that meets DOT specifications, one will be offered to you at the time of rental. Additionally, protective eyewear and boots above the ankles are recommended.
